Postmark Deadlines: December 31 and June 30 annually

We seek poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction for our semi-annual magazine competition. Prose entries should be 3,000 words or less. Poetry entries may be of any length.

To be considered for both publication and a cash prize, please enclose $10.00 with each essay, short story, or set of 1-3 poems. Enclose $15.00 and you may submit an unlimited number of entries. Mail your manuscripts to:

How to Prepare Your Submission

What We Publish

We seek poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction for our semi-annual publication. Please see our Submission Guidelines (below) before sending in your work; if you do not follow our guidelines, your entries will not be considered. You may submit an unlimited number of entries. The postmark deadlines for each issue/contest are: June 30 (Summer) and December 31 (Winter). Mail your manuscripts to: The Litchfield Review, 7 Bonna Street, Beacon Falls, CT 06403.

The postmark deadlines for each issue/contest are: July 31 (Summer) and February 28 (Winter).

Guidelines for Submission

For Prose: All entries must be entirely original and postmarked by the aforementioned date. All entries must also be accompanied by the appropriate Reading Fee (see below). Manuscripts must be typed, double-spaced and on one side of 8.5x11 paper. Please submit TWO copies of each submission; please staple multiple pages of each copy. Your name, address, phone number, and email address must appear on each submission. Please limit each entry to a total of 3,000 words and put word count on first page.

For Poetry: All entries must be entirely original and postmarked by the aforementioned date. All entries must also be accompanied by the appropriate Reading Fee (see below). There is a limit of 45 lines total for each submission, and each poem should be typed on one side of 8.5x11 paper. Please submit two copies of each submission, and staple together multiple pages. Please indicate line count on the first page of each entry. Your name, address, phone number, and email address must appear on each submission.

Reading Fees: To be considered for publication, please incude $5 for each essay or short story; $5 for a set of up to three (3) poems; or $7 for unlimited entries.
To be considered for publication as well as a contest with cash prize, please include $10 for each essay or short story, $10 for a set of up to three poems, or $15 for unlimited entries. You may submit as many entries as you like, but please include payment in one check for all works combined.
